HARRISON, Leon 66 of West Carrollton, passed away April 19, 2017. Leon leaves to cherish his memory two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janet (William) Harrison Carney of Acworth, GA, Debra Harrison of Trenton, NJ, nephews Matthew William (Laura) Carney, Joel Edward (Shawna) Carney, special friend Holly Martin - Huffman, numerous cousins and extended family. Leon was retired from Frigidaire/GM, was a Civil War Re-enactor, enjoyed writing, bicycling, and was the former Buckeye Bureau Chief at the Eastern Kentucky Magazine. HARRISON, Leon 66 of West Carrollton, passed away April 19, 2017. Leon leaves to cherish his memory two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janet (William) Harrison Carney of Acworth, GA, Debra Harrison of Trenton, NJ, nephews Matthew William (Laura) Carney, Joel Edward (Shawna) Carney, special friend Holly Martin - Huffman, numerous cousins and extended family. Leon was retired from Frigidaire/GM, was a Civil War Re-enactor, enjoyed writing, bicycling, and was the former Buckeye Bureau Chief at the Eastern Kentucky Magazine. He was a 1968 graduate of Northmont High School, and was a US Army Veteran. Leon was an active duty soldier stationed in Belgium. After his discharge, he became a pilot and transferred to the Army National Guard. In Hazard, Kentucky, the Mayor issued a proclamation, officially recognizing Leon as a "Duke of Hazard" and was presented the keys to the city. He also participated as the Grand Marshall in their "Black Gold Festival". Memorial services for Leon will be held at a later date. Contributions in memory of Leon may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
